Real Dna Poem by Randy McClave

Real Dna

Sometimes your mother or father isn't your blood
But, they will always still give you their undying love,
Even though you'll still make mistakes and still will falter
They will still proudly call you their son or daughter.
Being a mother or a father has nothing to with kinsmanship
It has to do only with love and the relationship,
It is given unconditionally by our lord and creator God
A belief and a feeling which can never be flawed.
Sometimes many wish that they had a different mother and/or father
When they see and feel no love or compassion, but only bother,
A parent is more than a title because a child was born
It's how in their heart the child is always and unconditionally worn.
No matter of the color of a person's skin
No matter where they have walked, or where they have been,
A parent is more than the color red
A parent is the one who loves and cares for their child through all dread.
Though you may not be related by any blood type at all
Remember always who has been there for you when you did fall,
They are the ones who will make you happy and protected and glad
They will become the best parent that any child ever had.
For my child I would give all that I owned including my life
Even if their mother is or was not ever my girlfriend or wife,
I would be a good parent because my soul would have told me to
Such strange and marvelous things the soul tells us to do.
Being a good parent doesn't mean sharing the same DNA
I still talk to my father in heaven every day,
Though we shared not the same blood, but his blood saved me
And he loves me more than anyone else that I will ever know or see.
