Reasoning With The Chronic Stubborn Poem by Terence George Craddock

Reasoning With The Chronic Stubborn

talk to a wall do you expect a reply?
talk to a lunatic do you expect sanity?
talk to a fool do you expect reason?

reasoning with the chronic stubborn
is like asking a flock of sheep to walk
in a single line to the shearing shed...

it is like asking water not to freeze
at temperatures twenty below zero...

it is like asking fire not to burn
when the nature of the flame is to burn
to consume to transform fuel into flames...

heat gases ashes
who can miracle reason
with the chronic stubborn...
