Recommended For Garden Growth Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Recommended For Garden Growth

It has been snowing, these autumn days,
And it's freezing cold, wherever you go.
Vegetables are rare and costly, you know,
And some are not available, to you amaze.

Cooking turns to be simple in such a case,
Leaving one with much time, for idleness.
An idea came to me, unbelievable as it was,
That I might start a garden, in my space.

A garden for all veggies of free choice,
Where Peas are Prepared with Promptness.
Politeness and Patience go hand in hand,
Together they set off toward pastoral land.

Squash is an absolute must, like it or not,
For gardens need squash as well as cure ——
Seasonal colds, or green-eyed envy, of sloth,
Cold hearts, or poisoned darts, or sleeved hands.

Then let's plant some lettuce, of love and faith,
Lettuce that feeds on truth and unselfish deeds.
Under the green shade, one may feel some peace,
By which harmony is derived to curb all cheats.

Along with the above are planted some turnips,
White or purple, -to light up the winter gray,
Where birds cast their shadows in unhurried play.
That's what I'm planning, presented as garden tips.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Petite,12: 20,18/11/2009, as an absent-minded record of the discomfort caused by recent cold and damp weather. Glad that vegetables have been stored days ago, before they become alarmingly expensive.
