Redemption - Poem by Justin Tanabe
REDEMPTION
He was dreaming he was a bird
that had flown far, far away
to a land with a depth of beauty
beyond what he ever imagined.
The sky was blue
as the eyes of an angel
and the magnificent waterfall below him
poured from the cup of God.
In his dream he built a nest on a cloud
And later felt eggs hatch under him
then watched with pride
as his offspring learned to fly.
But he suddenly awoke and saw
the shackles on his feet
And the Bible still clenched in his hand.
Then he heard the warden say “It is time”
But he was not afraid
for Jesus walked beside him
as he walked down the green mile.
