Reflections - Poem by Eric Birdsall

It’s not even raining, but the gutters still leak,
Worst day of my life, and it’s the third this week,
The reflections from the puddles make it hard to see,
The puddles and I have that in common, we don’ look so deep,
But you can’t always base life on what you see,
Take time to look closer, and until you know completely,
Never judge an obstacle just because it looks so easy,
I found out the hard way, some things are here to deceive,
To make me believe, what I want to believe
Only to be blindsided by reality,
In this race of life, you’ll never have the lead,
But whatever you do never stop chasing your dreams,
Don’t ask for forgiveness, it’s the last thing you need,
Never regret or you’ll never succeed,
Don’t dawn on the past, or you’ll never see,
What ahead for you, what the futures got to bring,
And last but not least, never forget to always believe.
