Reformation Day Poem by Timber Koleden

Reformation Day

Rating: 5.0

Thud! Thud! Thud!
Hear the thunder on the door
Of truth, released from papal lore
God moving the hammer of man
Fathomless purposes—divine plan.
Tinkle! Tinkle! Tinkle!
Hear the herald's greedy jeer
Call the poor and unknowing near
‘As a coin in the coffer rings
A soul from Purgatory doth spring! '
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Deceivers in pulpits' place
The Scriptures hid from Peasant face
The truth defined by word of priest
Kept in secret; hidden from the least
Boom! Boom! BOOM!
Hear thunder in the words
The Truth sharper than royal sword
God speaks to man by Holy Writ
Not by fallible man, with words unlit
Crash! Crash! Crash!
God moves—divine myst'ry
Moves hearts to Himself—for His Glory
Hear the hammer falling—revealing
What is true and what is misleading
Bang! Bang! BANG!
Salvation attained by Grace alone
Through Faith alone; in Christ alone
Revealed in the Holy Word alone
—To the glory and praise—
Glory! Glory! Glory!
To the Glory of God alone

Amen
Soli Deo Gloria

Reformation Day
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Over 500 years ago, on October 31,1517, Martin Luther, a devout German monk, nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, after reading the Bible and realizing that it was being skewed by the Catholic Church. He challenged the Catholic Church's sale of indulgences and called believers back to the truth of the Gospel. Luther taught that salvation comes by faith alone (Sola Fide) and that the Bible alone is God's unerring Word (Sola Scriptura) . This means Christians look to Scripture—not popes, priests, or politicians—for authority and truth. His brave act sparked the Protestant Reformation, shaping centuries of faith and reminding believers that God's grace and Word stand above all human power.
