Refugee Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Refugee

Refugee

The movie am making
Is about refugee…

Odysseus is saved by
The Siren of the sea.

He returns to be killed
By his own family!

Yes, I know very well
Of the men and women
That escaped invaders
Then, abused by others.

Were beaten and looted,
In times were the victims
Of brutal gang rapes,
Part of them were sent to
War fronts as soldiers.

They were killed and erased
From the face of earth…

We shall not put blame
On the beasts, spiders,
Scorpions, or snakes,
In this list mankind sits
At the top…not bottom!

Damn be this human!
Damn be this human!

A look at Prairies to Andes,
Then, Yemen, Middle East
Gives life to albums with
Pictures of hosts and guests,
Prior feeds with care,
And latter, kills, shatters!

Damn be this human!
Damn be this human!
