Reigning Excuses Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Reigning Excuses

Excuses reign in everyone's vocabularies, not wanting to tell
the truth for they might be thought of in a negative way, at
least that's their mind-set at the end of the day.

Seeming to not realize that truth is better than lies, giving
up a sacredness of honor and honesty both at once, no room in
between for excuses of lies in their lives, feeling shame yet
unable to find their way to telling the truth after all.
