Remembering History Poem by Randy McClave

Remembering History

Remember, those people who threw those rocks
And also at them they threw their dirty socks,
And then they shouted and they called them names
Then also they set a crucifix to flames.
They wrote signs where others weren't allowed to sit
And upon them they did curse and did spit,
From a water fountain they could freely drink
But, those others they said had to swallow from a sink.

Remember, their churches and schools they did burn
Just because they had the hatred and yearn,
And they placed burning crosses on their lawn
Because, they wanted them all gone.
Now grandparents are mad and are very upset
They say our history their grandchildren should neglect,
Because, they want it not to be known
They started and burned the fires and threw every sock and stone.
