Repeat, Repeat His Name Poem by Naveed Akram

Repeat, Repeat His Name

Repeat His Name from the heart like a statue
That obeys solidity, inner fractures are destroying
The beauty of it, cracks appear like the servants.
My freedom is of the worthy poets who spend from
Their heart on the poor, liking their pleasure, and
Foretelling the political situation, with sour intentions.
So repeat the names of people who surrender to
The One Who is causes and effects, learning and
Wisdom, action and word, for the rocks have jostled
In the winds, toppling so faster than the snows.

The sword is practiced by a lone man whose brain
Is concealed, the belt of his painted body is absorbing,
The emitting of sweat and blood is special and sweet.
The repetition of his name is like the spreading of
Plates on the dinner-table, the cups of eternal wine.
My friends cannot battle with him, so awkward is the
Code of his language, so colourful is his song,
The bards do not endure the cold and heat.

My worry is only worry, it is a dagger in the heart,
A thrust of desire, a heartening act of resolutions,
Inside the tissues of the corpses, it is only worry.

Then repeat the names of his apples, his oranges,
As danger aligns itself, after the eating, after the bad
Resignation, after the swallowing of venison.
