Reset? Poem by Glen Kappy

Reset?

This park's
the one
I've circled
countless times.

The sun
that glitters
in the elms
this breezy morning
at the end of May
the same.

But I see them
all removed
as through a filter—
the recent passing
of my son
in me abiding.

And I wonder
if there'll ever be
a "reset"—
if in distant days
I'll ever glimpse
such scenes again—

the gauze
of thought
pulled back—
in blessed immediacy.

dear bharati, your comment moves me. thank you for it. my wife and i are doing okay considering. questions remain about the manner of his passing, and i wonder if they'll ever be answered as key witness statements cannot, that i know of at the moment, be corroborated. a certainty is that he's gone. many have reached out to us in this time to support us and, of course, it's good to feel that. love keep you, sister. -glen
