Send strong winds, O God
and sweep away
the hatreds and the hurts.
Sweep them
roots and all
from memory's ground
to lie beneath
your blazing light
and dry to sterile dust.
Send strong winds, O God
and sweep away
the hatreds and the hurts.
Send strong winds, O God and sweep away the hatreds and the hurts. Sweep them roots and all from memory's ground
It's funny what can inspire a poem, isn't it? In this case, you being out in a strong wind. I guess we could say that the wind blew this poem into your head. In any case, it is very good.
thanks, kim. i was on a summer walk around a nearby park when the idea came for this one. i must have been thinking about or personally struggling with forgiveness. one thing for sure is that our dry high desert air here and wind were close to the surface. -glen

A great sincere prayer rising from heart. Thanks
you're welcome, jazib. letting go of the hatreds and the hurts is a challenge. i got the idea for this a while back- perhaps it's been years? - but i was reminded of it the other day as i was out for a morning walk in substantial winds. (usually afternoons are when we have strong winds.) be well! -glen
