Playing with my head
is a word I found in Robert Herrick (1591-1674) .
The word is 'respasses';
what does it mean and how is it said?

Its only quality I know
is its 'cooling breath'.
Is there a cheese with that?
Is it 'retsina' in another tongue?
Or aniseed-breathing 'pastis'?

I think you say it
to rhyme with 'to these'.

Ps. I sleuthed it:
respasses are raspberries.

Thank you so much for sharing this 'fooling us' profound short poem, starting with medieval Robert Herrick!

2) who gives us, the readers the quickest aid to tell us the concluded name is RASPBERRIES. Ah, excellent too.A short quick poem, but so very gorgeously posted with brilliant picture of the raspberries.

This awesome poem started so fresh and a total puzzle, BUT in the shortest time we can read the answer in the end as a PS. I rather love that we still must guess and keep guessing and then we will find the answer ourselves, but you are a cute poet from Adelaide
