Revisiting Poem by Bill Galvin

Revisiting

Late of this earth…
She was.

Late now with slowed time,
Sitting with age…
They are.

The aunt, the mother, the spouse…
We, four, were wading at the edge of this pool,
On vacation, one time.

Cooling was the water then,
Warming is the vision now.

One time, a while ago… four lives…
Now, this one,
In newer times, in newer places;
Sharing the newness,
And the new signs are backlit
By good remembrance.

All is temporary, and all is now…
All is within this moment.

Everything of the past is the most innocent,
At least we think so now.
Grainy bad memories can filter thru the mesh of time,
Leaving only the finest, the purest.

The future being only an investment,
The planning may never be realized…
The present moment holds all the true value.

And, as I remain, I revisit… so I remember…
Those fleeting smiles of lifetimes ago.

I grab ahold to brighten the dulling apparitions
Of long ago laughs…
Of long ago worlds.

The calm, the full, the good, the love…
I take a deep breath…
For that moment, and for now.
