I will sing lament of a river
where endless; bloody battle flows
where the stupid soldier goes...
transcending time to fight grief wars
slain blood feeds an evil blood red river
where violence cascades into waterfalls
as empire's addicted to blood slain rivers
battle in dust death slaughter killing games...
killing fields are farmlands cruelty shredded
churn bright eyed bodies dull; healthly men needed
battle death glutton drunk drinks blood not sated...
I will sing lament of a swift flowing river
where generations pass endless bloody battle flows
where a poor lost soul stupid soldier goes...

Terence, this is one of the best poems about war that I've ever read! My poet friend, Heartiest of Congratulations on a well deserved POD!
I wrote the poem 'Conscripted Soldiers Discarded: Suffering Shell Shock Battle Fatigue', inspired by my reply to a comment made on my poem 'River War Songs: Bloody Current Churns', by the poet Richard Wlodarski and dedicated to Richard Wlodarski.
P1 Thank you Richard. Patriotism has a necessary place among nations, but we need to remember the horror conscripted young men are forced to endure against there will also.
P2 The sad inadequate lack of support provided for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
P3 From WW2 to Vietnam a few veterans have confessed a few of their tortured stories, the nightmares tormenting their souls, that is why I recently wrote 'RAF Carrot Piercing Eyes'.
