Well written : ) Indeed, even a simple rock picked up in some forest or on a stretch of beach can become a treasure! This poem makes me think of my grandfather, he loved collecting rocks anywhere he went!

An interesting acrostic write that emphasizes the importance of rocks. I liked the colored ones. Sometimes rocks conceal precious gems.

Thank you all for your comments! My family often searches for rocks, on the beach, in a stream bed, most anywhere. We like to show off our finds to each other!

A very fine piece! May I pose a question? The lines seem to indicate that the poet is receiving a rock from somebody who sees the beauty in it. When I was very young I would give pieces of gravel that I thought pretty as gifts to my grandmother. Is this perhaps your experience too?

One of the best lines comes from the viewpoint of a miner: 'Each stone within my hand is a wonder I will never understand'

A beautiful poem! It makes me think of the the song 'A Mining Song' by Clamavi De Profundis.

Rocks aren't given enough credit. You've done the justice, Rob!
