Rogue - 2016 Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Rogue - 2016

Rating: 5.0

Police traveling
Two to a car
Armed to the teeth

Now, it seems
Shoot first
Ask questions later

Unarmed citizens
Are just
'Fresh Meat'

Police have forgotten
Their Primary Directive
'To Serve and Protect'

In the courts
Justice, for the victims
'Not to be found'

NZ police do not generally carry firearms, unless in an emergency. You raise some interesting questions in my mind law enforcement. Certainly no one should be shot without getting a fair trial.

i would NOT want to be in a police officers position, having to hold fire until being fired upon! but i also see the 'other side'. certainly some 'citizens' are putting their lives on the line also by being out and about. ...............yours is a well written opinion! ! ! to MyPoemList .................bri ;)
