Rogue Ant Poem by Neil Solan

Rogue Ant

The forthcoming nuclear winter
May not come between us now,
Our bond is much to robust
And i'm not going to get dressed
Just to take my birthday bow.

I see the sun looming over,
The lea lights up into view,
Kerb-crawling from the towns -
Come cavemen with 'i'm evolved' t-shirts on.

I know i'm not from their colony,
If we stand upon this balcony
We can see the notes of popular song
Reminding us we're here and telling us it's wrong,
Holding us down with home-made prongs,
But ink is our weapon and paper our ally
And it is no good being camera shy, today.
