'' Ruled By Fear '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Ruled By Fear ''

Now I'm deceased,
I'll no longer be fleeced,
Where I'm going there's no need for money,
From my shell I'm released,
No palms to be greased,
I'm off to the land filled with honey.

In my heavenly domain,
I won't feel the strain,
God will ensure there's no stress,
No feelings of pain,
No hint of disdain,
In here there's no need to transgress.

That's what I thought,
But I'm feeling distraught,
The master I cannot disobey,
They'll have me shot,
If I'm ever caught,
At the root of any affray.

If I talk back,
I'll be under attack,
They very soon let it be known,
My views they'll track,
I'll be on the rack,
If their leader I try to dethrone.

You must do as told,
Don't dare be bold,
Or it will leave a terrible smell,
In effect I'm controlled,
By the one to behold,
Could it possibly be, I'm in Hell?

I've had my fill,
This gives me a chill,
The one they term the creator,
It's fear he'll instil,
I have no free will,
In reality he is a dictator.

The truth has dawned,
The tales they've spawned,
Are fantasies created by man?
From what's really beyond,
I want to abscond,
To achieve this, I'll do all I can.

We are totally blind,
Yes, so unrefined,
To believe that a paradise is sincere,
If in his image we're designed,
You'd better be resigned,
To an afterlife,

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
By all means believe in an afterlife if you choose to, if there's nothing on the '' other side '' we won't know anyway.
