Run Shallow Sea - Poem by James McLain

It is not often completely diminished,
and it will allow for the slow leak of air.
Shallower conversation also can help
by not creating as great of a pressure differential
The Jennie air trapped behind the bottle.

You may also suggest to your polite friend
that she and her partner
try to determine
whether there are other conversations
that are more problematic
and perhaps not to use thin lips
at the beginning of each conversation
or perhaps avoid a particular conversation
if they find the noise of sign language
too explosively disruptive.
