Sacrificing - Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak
Watching shadows of night fall upon earth, darkness
not being illuminated except within people's homes.
There they live peacefully and contented, loving
one another, family members talking, having meals
Relishing one another's company throughout their lives,
no one looking over their shoulders, knowing our Vets
are on duty, watching over America.
Protecting all of us throughout life, totally and
completely giving their lives, sacrificing their time
to make sure all of us stay free.
Why aren't we doing more for them?
