Sadly Belated Poem by Randy McClave

Sadly Belated

I forgot her smile
And I forgot her cheer,
I then forgot that she aged another year.
What else can I say
But, "I'm sorry I forgot! ",
A present for her, I never bought.
She contacted me
She then sent me a grin,
I then knew the trouble, that I was in.
I was given no kiss
And I was offered no cake,
Of her celebration, I didn't partake.
These words that I write
Are both my apology and my gift,
I hope her spirits, they will joyously lift.
Her birthday is now over
Now I feel sad and hated,
This Birthday wish, is sadly belated.
