Before day's heat
sandaled feet push through thick grass—
moisture wets my toes.

yes, and here at the start of a day it's usually in the 60s f. as soon as the sun rises in our mile-high 35 degree latitude summer, it warms quickly thirty degrees or more. the heat at its peak feels like you opened a hot oven door. -glen
