Sandboxes Poem by Glen Kappy

Sandboxes

The United States and all governments—
sandboxes.

The CIA, FBI, and all their ilk—
sandboxes too—
no one's going to take their pails and shovels.

So why all the lenses circled around them
as if their circumscribed domains are all that counts?

Let us look up and out
to that democracy of all people and creatures
here on this globe and wherever they may be.

Let us pledge allegiance to that—
which no flag or multitude thereof could ever capture—
and to its incredible Creator, of course—
with liberty and justice—but most of all life—for all.

Here's a "koan" for all of us myopic—
while magma boils in the bowels of our planet
colossal rock shifts by millimeters along fault lines
roots and mycelial mats spread in dark soil
and myriads of plants break up and through in an ancient dance
because we do not notice, does it mean they don't exist?

Awesome. Good thought provoking literature. Just because we don't hear or see it, in the moment, does not discredit the reality of it. Great 'vision' Glen.
