When he was on fast as a single man,
several times to close the liquor-shops,
no one cared to look at him.
Climbing up a cell-phone tower,
he stood there for more than five hours
and breathed his last to espouse
the cause of shutting down the killer-shops.
The people rose and were at large
broke open the doors of hell
and sent the bottles crashing to the streets
to enforce prohibition till the cops came
and drove them off firing teargas shells.
There are burly muscle-men
in politics for every ward.
There are leaders with sycophants
to loot the public coffers in stealth.
When the government falls in debt-trap
the income of these leaders goes sky-high.
The only man who made the hearts of
the whole of Tamil Nadu to beat
was this Gandhian, Sasi Perumal!
He braved the death to fear the rulers
and made them seeking succour from the centre.
The Gandhian has gone down in history!

I would like to translate this poem
Truly, Sasi Perumal was a Gandhian who became a martyr for the cause of closing liquor shops, threatening the politicians and inspiring the people. Loved reading the poem.
