Notice that when something
really, really bad happens
you can count on that
one good friend to say
"Well at least..."
and "it could be so much
worse" or maybe even
"One day you'll see the good."
Isn't it just possible that
some things have no greater good?
Why assume the silver lining?
Sometimes damage is just damage
and harm has no other companion but
grief or sorrow and thoughts
that you tell yourself and no one else
stalk you from the moment you wake up
Good or bad there is a lesson to be had
Perhaps one is that consequences do not
hold hands with victims who stand aside
live and let live and yet are greeted
by the point of a blade. Those who fly or climb
or jump or surf or tempt and lean on free will
may learn to lean on metal or wood or plastic
Prosthetics that nurture one's true character
Becoming one's own friend may involve meeting
free will and accepting that from the beginning
some outcome befitting should tell others of our person
Another may see that an action or result upended
"I was just minding my own business"
Like a December holiday the good and bad
can be what we make of them free of lies
delusions wishes claims beliefs fantasies hopes
Sharing words to friend should be suited to the person. Myself, the way i say can be different from one to another. No matter what good friends word are remedy to bruises... the best one keep it better
Its all about how wisely we handle it. Splendid poem dear MJ....5 Stars
Happy New Year Mark! Good & bad are a part and parcel of our life. I guess it is the law of life.

As is usual, your verses have caused me to stop and ponder and see a new version of what I think- - but I think for my inner health I will continue to try to live thinking things could have been worse.... but I shall keep that reflection to myself as you are right- it could cause hurt to others! Bless you, Mj! Top marks! ! !
Thank you so much, Susan...And you have me reflecting on the great comedian/comic who once said...'things could always be worse.' Perhaps the key to that is knowing when not to be the/a factor that triggers the eventuality. Again, thank you so much.
