Self Images Possessed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Self Images Possessed

Isn't it amazing,
What some people expect.
From those they've disrespected.
And shown historical neglect.

Isn't it amazing,
How people like this...
Can believe what affects them,
Should stop clocks from moving.
Turn a Sun rising into immediate Sunset.
Because of self images they possess,
Are credited to their ability...
To remain pretentious.
While living to charade,
Their lives in overwhelming debts.
To then...

Look down,

From their turned up noses.

Wanting empathy shown.
And sincerity received.
With this believed should be given,
Done from those forced to live...
In places that condone,
Their suffering, injustices and disparities.

Who are these mutants?

Overstaying their visit,
From an uncivilized World!
