Selling Myself Poem by Cody Marks

Selling Myself

Rating: 5.0

For the right price
I give myself away
To princes, bosses,
Anyone who pays right

For what reasons to say
I do not know friend
Except that I am told
This green I need more

For that I give many days
Hours, minutes, and smiles
Faked enough to get more
Of this world's paper

If I don't have enough
I may forfeit my health
My life, and all else
I may hold ever so dear

I would not want to be
Ever too poor to matter
To those who have power
To pull my strings
Guiding my hands and words

If my strings are not pulled
I could find myself in a box
Where I would be a memory
Of a number that made it not
