David:
Gently the wind blows,
Turning the leaves of a book;
An autumn Shabbat.
Gershon:
Gently blows ru’ah
Like that on primal waters,
And unveils the Sabbath Bride
David:
Dripping down branches
That grow off the tree of life,
Flow pearls of wisdom.
Gershon:
Two trees in Eden,
One delicious but, when tasted,
The other wasted.
David:
On its limbs sing birds,
Etz Chaim - its words sublime;
Eternal springtime.
Gershon:
On the tree of life
Eternally the leaves fall,
Till by song renewed.
Zachary:
kiddush havdalah!
the rabbi's boring sermon,
and shalashudes.
The first, third and fifth haikus are by David Lefkowitz, and the second, fourth and sixth are my responses. Zachary's haiku is the final one, the seventh, as is the Sabbath day.
