All eyes on the happy couple
as television screens keep displaying
the rich and the famous rushing to the gala wedding;
smiles galore, extravaganza afloat
as guests keep rushing to the venue to partake
in the marriage celebrations
and get noticed by the media.
People in Mumbai city so glued to their TVs
that everyone silently keeps watching and envying
the pomp and the splendor that the family holds
to make their son's marriage a memorable occasion
for the world to witness and remember.
The couple also feel they deserve the attention
as they want to seek blessings from their friends and families
as they want to cherish their wedding day
and also make others remember their wedding day forever.
Well, who does not get married someday or other,
who does not select a life partner eventually,
who does not get wedded once in their lifetime,
o so many, o' so many but only those who are rich
can afford lavish weddings!
And as so many singers, so many actors,
so many VIPs, so many leaders will attend the wedding
as if a monarch of our country is getting married,
the gala event will go on with expensive decor and drama
as world-famous performers will entertain the guests
and sumptuous buffets will fill the platters.
But the city of Mumbai will wake up and sleep
confronting the same rigorous tasks of rushing to work
and coming home to sleep in their apartments
or in their shanties or on the open streets
after a long tiring day;
while the Arabian sea will be touching Haji Ali
and flowing across the Marine Drive
with the same flutter of the waves
no matter who marries whom, where and when:
as marriages are said to be coordinated in heaven
and celebrated on earth
by one's own custom and tradition
by one's own fortune and grace.
