She Looked, We Touched, We Connected - Poem by Alice Perfect

i know, on the sly, she looked
back at me, a couple of times

if that happens again
I'll bump into her
leaving the building
-tension tension tension

we bumped
I smiled
I gave her my favorite magazine
-loaded with lead that heart was

then we talked for like
2 minutes on break
-my heart can handle this

we walked toward lunch
I grabbed her a tray
we sat and chatted
-like birds singing contentment

the next time we bumped at night
I felt her give me a little
squeeze on the pinky
short but real
-good to feel...

the next time we bumped shoulders
and did high 5s and then
knuckles and hip bumps
-were the geese on my arms

at last, walking the path
together our hands bumped
and sort of slowly
latched onto each others
-hearts were pounding

the connection was made
