Shiver Poem by Loraine Lotter

Shiver

Crying in the middle of night,
cursing in my pillow from time to time.
There’s a crack in the wall
of my fragile heart.

Wondering when you’ll wake up
and realize the path that we’re on.
Oh, I fear for the worst,
but you’re not listening.

This bond was made to last,
but we’re losing what we have.

I’m standing in the middle of the room.
Can you hear my heart crying out for you?
There’s an echo in your love,
and I need you now more than ever.
I’m losing sight of you within the busy crowd.
This blinded ignorance keeps knocking me down.
I hear that echo again,
and it’s making my body go cold,
but I wont lose you this time,
so I shiver it off and move on,
on my own.

Why does the truth need to hurt?
Should have listened when they warned me at first,
but carelessness always wins
when it comes to love.

So just keep doing what you do,
I’ll still be standing here, crying out for you!

I’m standing in the middle of the room.
Can you hear my heart crying out for you?
There’s an echo in your love,
and I need you.
I’m losing sight of you within the busy crowd.
This blinded ignorance keeps knocking me down.
I hear that echo again,
and it’s making my body go cold.
Take a look at what you’ve made of me.
Am I the girl you always wanted me to be?
There’s an echo in your love,
and it’s making my body go cold,
but I wont lose you this time,
so I shiver it off and move on,
into your arms.
