Shocking Covid-19 Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Shocking Covid-19

Rating: 5.0

When covid-19 was few miles away
I wrote poems advising the readers
to take some preventive Siddha medicines.
When someone in my next hamlet died,
the cops banned traffic for a few days
as it was an untouchable area.
I forgot it soon and enjoyed Covid jokes
in Whatsup, TV and in other websites.
When I knew someone in the next street
has contracted Covid-19 and the street
barricaded, shops closed and trespass denied,
I was shocked really and drank the drink
to enhance my immunity and down my phlegm level.

When the risk of infection increases,
we're disturbed within. Anxiety increases.
I felt the pressure with which the doctors work.
I understand now why some infectees dare to
Commit suicide and some die of heart-attack.
When symptoms appear, we have to isolate.
Suppose we die, our nearones won't do rites.
Our dearones will delete all of our signs
in their phones and block all routes of contact.
The place where we work will shut the door
when our want forces us to resume the work.
Our colleagues will not speak with us
and they will not share the lunch with us.
No country will give us VISA if we want to go out.
Even wife will get away in silence as there is chance
for Covid-19 to assault again if it is lured.

Stop with festivals and congregational meetings.
The wholesalers of vegetables are the stockists
to sell the Virus to retailers for spreading it.
My God! The aftereffects of Covid attack are terrible
to think of and the memories, dangerous to live with.

Stop with festivals and congregational meetings. The wholesalers of vegetables are the stockists to sell the Virus to retailers for spreading it........impressive lines. Beautifully delineated.

A shocking picture of our surroundings and of the tragic impact of SARS COV 2. Thanks a lot for this portrayal of a sad reality.
