Sioux Poem by G J Salgado

Sioux

She wanted something that moved her and created her
At the same time she wanted something that craved her
She listened as something caught her senses
That something came out of the dark emphasis
Out the deep those eyes emerged from mid air
Unspoken sounds telling her to come closer
She entered his world and suddenly something inside her was complete
Closing her eyes she felt everything within this last of summer's heat
Those dark eyes of his captivated her down to the bone
And she was no one that was so easy to take home
She was wild in her own ways
But she wasn't just any stray
Her aim was steady
She knew she had him already
There was something about the way they looked at each other
Where one began you would find the other
She was a soul not to be reckoned with
As she loved to taste the sun on his lips
His coal black hair felt soft and smooth
He held his body close to hers leaving no room
There was nothing in between them
There was just her and him
Warrior paint streaming across both of their faces
They took each other to so many places
Without going anywhere except where they've already been
On that same piece of Earth not moving an inch
Native magic is how they came within each other's path
Intertwined tribes they knew just that
Tangled up inside of each other just like a perfect weave
Woven of everything they knew and nothing that they had to leave
