Sleep 2 Poem by David Harris

Sleep 2

Laid on the bed for half an hour,
four hours later I woke up,
something I had never done before.
Disorientated I stumbled around
wondering where I was.

Slowly I began to wonder
what had come over me.
Why would I sleep so long?
This just was not
the person I really am.

I sat and pondered
over what had happened.
Lack of sleep due to heat
suddenly took hold of me
when the coolness swept over me.

It was the only explanation
I could give to what happened.
A restless urge for calm
must have swept over me
and enraptured me in sleep.
