Slipping Away Poem by Carolyn Brunelle

Slipping Away

Time slips away
one hour
one minute at a time
in a race with old age;
some days it outruns me.
It brings fear to my door;
sometimes to my table for tea
but mostly, to my knees.
It's grateful I am
to have won
more than a couple fights
with life's diseases
both in flesh and spirit;
to have had strength
for the many roads,
a lifted hope
and a connection
beyond this mere dust
to trust in.
All the rest
when I get things
off my chest,
I leave to heaven.
