Snuff Poem by Bryony Sheldon

Snuff

He's upper class
I made him laugh
I asked his name
Then he took my hand
His smile I'll always keep with me
A reminder of what could never be

Of what I don't deserve
I know my worth
Hold back the tears
These wasted years
He's a pretty boy with a future
I shouldn't make him lose his time on me

I just OD'd
Breathing machine
Should I have left
My friends behind?
I'm no use to anyone
In all my life I've never won a thing

I lived too fast
Call ambulance
That look on you
Killing me
Drown me in shame I guess
I didn't try enough, but I tried my best for you

This boy I knew
I loved him
Now he's gone away
Now he's gone away
Promised wedding now a wake
Every night I dream just wide awake
Hold me forever, because you're slipping through
Hold me forever, I can't cope with losing you
Hold me forever,
Hold me forever,
Hold me forever,
Just don't say goodbye.
