Dracula Poem by Bryony Sheldon

Dracula

Rating: 5.0

Hiding and haunting
He rushes me in the night

Scalding and scorching
Hellfires are burning bright

Gutting and gashing
Reopening all my wounds

Fighting and thrashing
Quickly the darkness consumes

Skulking and stalking
In the shadows of my mind

Maiming and mauling
Cut free the terror inside

Pulsing and pounding
My heart spits and seethes and sears

Howling and hounding
I'm skewered with guilt and fear

Mental illness is a topic scarcely discussed as seen in many circles as a disease. It is real and lethal but if we keep preaching about it and showing empathy, love we can save a life. Thanks for this beautiful piece. Though I thought it was the remake of the film Dracula or Blade

Excellent selection of verbs to accelerate and deepen the scenery of this poem and its metaphor. This is one powerful poem made more powerful by the judicious use of Alliteration. 10++++++++++++++ and onto fav list

Sounds like a real encounter with the devil's favourite demon - Dracula. Really an insightful creation written in persuasive expressions with conviction. A witty work of art. Thanks for sharing, Sheldon.
