So cold to the touch
So hard to breathe
Depression washes over me
Like waves from the ocean
Anxiety clings to me
Like static electricity
My life suffered tragedies
Like tornadoes ripping through towns
My emotions are in a spiral
That my mind so in a fog
My heart is in so much pain
That I don't know what love feels like
Sadness and grief take over me
That now I feel so numb
Numb is a state that a lot of people have to get to from shock and trauma. Once that numbness becomes observant detachment, one can actually feel a kind of intelligence blossom that one knows one would not have reached without stepping into that 'numb swamp' first.

Thank you. I draw on personal experiences for my poetry. I write my poetry for it to be relatable and for people to know that they're not alone.
