Sojourners Poem by Chima Ononogbu

Sojourners

We're mere sojourners in life's great plains,
which they say isn't a bed of roses;
therefore I surmise it's a bed of thorns,
because life is either one or the other.
So we must with closeness watch
where our legs dare to tread.

A powerful and very thought provoking write. Liked the closure lines. Well crafted and conveyed.

I imagine we put out our thorns to protect ourselves as does the rose. But the rose is immobile and has no other defences. We can choose to shake loose the thorns or anyone who comes near. A though provoking and enlightening poem.

Hate is self destructive and very societally unacceptable. Thanks Kofi.
