Sold To Sell Out Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Sold To Sell Out

Forced to accept,
The facts of life.
And...
Abandoned debts owed,
Incapable to pay.
Yet...
This depiction not to fiction,
The reality and truth of it...
Remains defying to deny,
Hearing truth spoken.
Making many cover their ears.
And others cringe!
As if children.
Sitting in a classroom.
Not paying attention to listen,
To a teacher.
Who takes a piece of chalk.
Screeching it,
Across a blackboard.
Done to do this to upset,
Those sold...
To sell out to lies told.
For a lifetime of nonsense.
And believing they can do this,
At someone else's expense!

And this to say...
See to witness.
And 'alleged' to be observed,
In both urban and suburban...
Neighborhoods coast to coast.
Is a truth that more offends,
Those who would rather...
Have truth ignored.
Than to find themselves,
Defending their pretensions.
And entitlements...
Giving them the right to ignore,
Truth to keep deluded.
Dignifying themselves to be,
Sellers of souls who have sold...
The potential of their children.
To sell out to accept,
Being down to Earth means...
Representing clowns,
Easily found...
From coast to coast.
And shores Worldwide!
