Solicited Is Hearsay Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Solicited Is Hearsay

More favorable is solicited hearsay.
Defended by mockingbirds.
Overhearing what other birds have heard.
Sitting on fences whispering beliefs.
Unsubstantiated.
Although argued between themselves,
Droaning with a persistence...
Until those listening have nodded.
Doing their best not to fall,
From a ledge.
Hoping not to be found,
Laying on the street.
Unable to awaken,
From a deep sleep.
And assumed to be dead by street sweepers.

Prioritized has become hearsay these days.
As proof of evidence,
Has blocked the truth from being displayed.
And those hired mockingbirds,
Humming with other birds...
Brought into courts to hear them sing.
Applauded for their entertainment.
Although without facts,
Do they have with them to bring.
Or allowed to use proof,
To defend themselves against...
Those either pushed or fell from a ledge,
Making allegations...
Of what had been done to them to do,
Was intended to prevent...
Them for appearing in person,
To reveal exactly who did what.
With assistance from mockingbirds,
Fed to deceive to believe and cover up!

"I thought this was a tale about pigeons? "

Pigeons may sit on a ledge.
But none have yet,
Fallen from one.
Unless...
Something was done to do,
And they refused to be quiet about it.
Leaving those who mock,
Wanting them out of the picture!

"Oh.
Like a 'parody'? "

Not quite.
Even though 'parakeets',
Are often mistaken for parrots.
