Solitary Confinement Poem by Richard Jarboe

Solitary Confinement

In solitary confinement,
You live in your own cage,
Walls built by your judgment,
Your prejudice and rage.

In solitary confinement,
Ever wonder where you went wrong?
Have you felt any regret yet,
About how you can't get along?

In solitary confinement,
Might as well keep to yourself,
Might as well take all the blame,
Because there ain't nobody else.

Some cry in solitary,
Some die in solitary,
Some find the truth or go crazy,
Their confinement's solitary.
