Flora liked the dog, Arthur the red––
Van Eyck interpreted by Laurent de Brunhoff––
but I like best what the old woman said:
“The couple look so happy, they must be in love.”

“The painting's trying, ” said Cornelius,
“to tell us something. I'm not quite sure what it is.”
To learn precisely what it REALLY is
you have to wait until you see the couple kiss.
