Some Who Came Brought Their Assumptions Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Some Who Came Brought Their Assumptions

There was a meeting at the junction.
Some who came brought their assumptions,
And expressed gumptions malfunctioned...
With a numbing of tongues,
Leaving a spewing undone.

There was no spitting of a bitterness.
Some who came to do it,
Had been tamed and dissed.
What has happened overnight,
Has had an affect on their brains.
With a wished conflict now seen remissed.

Expected were some frowning lips.
And signs of that some said they missed.
But something in the air has been changed.
Everyone seemed quite sane.
With a peace maintained.

There was a meeting at the junction.
Some who came brought their assumptions,
And expressed gumptions malfunctioned...
With a numbing of tongues,
Leaving a spewing undone.

There was no spitting of a bitterness.
Some who came to do it,
Had been tamed and dissed.
With a wished conflict now seen remissed.
And the shaking of hands.
Without lifted balled fists.
