Someone...... So Long Ago - Poem by Lora Colon

Someone..... so long ago
Listened while I sang my lonely song,
He knew the words, and sang with me,
And healed Fate's grievous wrong

He took hold of my hand,
And his strength and his love became mine,
With gentle force he seized my heart,
Then lit the flame divine

Had the sun ever shone
So brightly before he came to me?
Had my life been worth anything,
Did my eyes ever see?

Suddenly, life made sense,
I was a prisoner he set free,
The rain felt good, birdsong was sweet,
I touched infinity!

A beautiful bouquet
He offered me when he came to call,
But the flowers were not mine to keep,
Soon Fate reclaimed them all

Love's fire is immortal,
Though an ember, it still casts a glow,
Reminding me how much I loved
Someone...... so long ago

Another beautiful poem, Lora. It's sad that your still yearning for the love you knew so long ago. I'm sure he's still thinking the same way about you. Love of that quality never dies. (Report) Reply

Even though time comes between love and it's memory, the sentiments remain within, strong and ever-lasting. Very beautiful imagery of a memory. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn (Report) Reply

    One love is true
    That makes heart his abode
Mind still recalls whole a life
    Like nice from-heaven ode
Turns to smile my big strife

Though the nostalgic warmth between the lovers may diminish but its sentimental grasp will remain for a long time to come till they, hopefully, get re-united. Nice poem.
