Someone Stands Tall Poem by Aneek Chatterjee

Someone Stands Tall

Rating: 4.5

Dark clouds and lightning
always seem to be frightening

on sea. But they reflect life
where you've struggle and strife,

jerks and swings, like a ship on fuming waves
somebody looks away, somebody helps

in our battle. But someone stands tall
in our journey, in our rise and fall

to help us steady the ship
when we're in real hardship

That person, - -a dad, a mom or a friend
who breaks the morbid trend

of looking away when the ship's in trouble
proves to be the real marble

in the edifice of life, - -a beacon, a lighthouse
Could be a sister, a brother or a spouse
