Sometimes, Just Sometimes Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Sometimes, Just Sometimes

Sometimes, Just sometimes
I wish for a dream I had never known
The perfect family in 1960
A life so real to call my own

Dear heart so ever lasting
In time we both shall fade away
Like so many in the darkness
Who love within a dreamlike way

Never is genuine passion spoken
Only quivering lips may speak of you
Loving only for a moment, I may feel
In the midst of nothing true

Our nights are long in mid December
A fantasy won't climb the Christmas Tree
Only what I dream is never lasting
In a mind of make-believe

Funny how memories are never real
The longing pressed in empty arms
So long without more than one can steal
In the darkness where you are

A life of dreams is not so empty
The years are not so very far
One day the flesh will finally free
Her light will greet me after dark
