Songs Of Wives-01: Draupadi-02-The Boons Poem by Subhas Chandra Chakra

Songs Of Wives-01: Draupadi-02-The Boons

Rating: 5.0

She asked for the wishes

the five most precious boons

from the great Lord Shiva

after years of austerity

to please the God of Gods.

Little did she know-

that her wishes

will be granted

in the most unnatural way

in the life following

that would cost her

a life no less

humiliating than the hell,

a life no less

rewarding than the heaven.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The five great wishes of Draupadi were granted, but it was not an easy life for the great queen to carry on with these boons granted to her. The life she went on with was at times bitterer than hell and at some other times an abode in heaven.
