Sonnet For When The Lights Go Out Poem by Danny Draper

Sonnet For When The Lights Go Out

Rating: 5.0

When the lights go out and a million years
Just pass, and aeolian sands of glass
Blast and bury all traces from the past
Herein our greatest folly will yet last
As minerals leach and tall mountains fall
Great towers once now dust through worm guts crawl
Oxides fail and all plastics break down and
Fragments of muted struggles are not found
Weathered footings again will be but stones
Substance too will stylishly be unknown
Within a flash all flash will cease to be
Or dwindle to extinction so care free,
To act was to evoke a new light, but
Willingness failed potential to ignite.

It has been far too long, waiting for the stir of your writings. Like visiting a favorite watering hole, I come back thirsty for a deep welled drink from the poured hand of Danny.... Yet another poem, served and garnished perfectly to provoke thought and appreciation for what seems a brilliant ease. PEACE
